Description
Lieder so deutsch wie der Wilde Westen / Songs as German as the Wild West – Song traditions of german emigrants to America
Holger Saarmann – guitar, vocals
Vivien Zeller – violin, vocals
Self-published in 2007 by Holger Saarmann
The singer-songwriter Holger Saarmann and the musician Vivien Zeller take you on a trip to North America in the 18th and 19th Centuries. The CD is the musical part of the duo’s reading and song program.
On the trail of German settlers in Pennsylvania, you will hear spirituals, folk- and children’s songs and also some American traditionals from real, everyday (farm) life in the former „New World“.
Holger Saarmann searched for and found the songs in the Volksliedwerk in Freiburg.
These nearly lost treasures were interpreted, arranged and sung in the characteristic mixture of southern German dialects, the so-called “Pennsylvania Dutch”, by Vivien Zeller and Holger Saarmann.
